The Banaskantha District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union also known as Banas Dairy, is accelerating its development journey by achieving a turnover of Rs 12,982 crore in 2020-21. The dairy has succeeded in generating this revenue in a short period, proving its strong foothold in the current market. Banas Dairy, being located in just a single district of Gujarat and associated with about 4,50,000 families engaged in animal husbandry, claims to generate a better turnover.

According to the press statement, the annual turnover of the Banas Dairy in the year 2013-14 was reported Rs 4,687 crore, which increased to more than Rs 9,808 crore in 2018-19. In FY 2019-20, the turnover further increased to more than Rs 12,970 crore. Continuing the same growth trajectory in the current year, the dairy has surpassed all its previous records by achieving an annual turnover of more than 12,982 crore. Along with this, Banas Dairy has also broken its record of processing 67.96 lakh liters of milk daily.

The annual turnover figures of Banas Dairy indicate the fact that it is moving towards creating a new unparalleled history in its growth journey. Shankar Chaudhary, chairman, Banas Dairy, added, "The annual turnover figures of Banas Dairy are increasing at a fast pace every year. Due to the hard work of the cowherds of the district and efficient administration of Banas Dairy, they are progressing, and the milk producers of the district are moving towards becoming financially viable. Last year was full of challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and farmers and cowherds in the district had to face many difficulties in their daily life. Still, through efficient administration, Banas Dairy doubled the income of the cattle farmers by giving the best price of milk to the cattle owners aiding their development."

In the 53rd Annual General Meeting of the dairy cooperative held on 21 July 2021 in Palanpur, Banaskantha, Chaudhary announced an incentive of Rs 1,132 crore to farmers who are members of the dairy cooperative. He also stated that the incentive would be paid next month and each farmer will get approximately little over Rs 2 lakh.

Banas Dairy is based in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat, India, and is one of Asia's largest milk producers. Galbabhai Nanjibhai Patel played a significant role in the foundation of the dairy. The cooperative organization was established in 1969 under the Gujarat Cooperative Societies Act 1961 with the support of NDDB as a part of their Operation Flood Program launched to bring white revolution in the country.
