Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters launches ‘Debut Series’

Introduces six first-time specialty coffee producers from India

FoodTechBiz Desk

Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, India’s largest and fastest-growing specialty coffee brand, announced that it will be launching coffee lots by six first-time specialty coffee producers under its latest initiative ‘Debut Series’. An extension of Blue Tokai’s endeavour to foster a fair and commercially viable ecosystem for Indian specialty coffee producers, the ‘Debut Series’ will mark the onset of these producers’ journey into the world of specialty coffee.

The ‘Debut Series’ celebrates the joy of firsts in the specialty coffee industry in India - a segment that has witnessed a remarkable growth in the last few years. With less than 50 specialty producers in 2013 to over 200 producers now, this magnification is a testament to the growing demand for good-quality Indian coffee and its potential to put India on the global coffee map.

As part of this series, Blue Tokai will showcase multiple different lots from each estate and will be releasing these sets over the next three months. Finding their home in the dense coffee regions of Coorg, Chikmagalur, Araku Valley as also Koraput - an upcoming region for specialty coffee, these lots will be exclusively sourced and roasted by Blue Tokai and will range from light to dark roasts. Coffee-lovers can buy these lots from Blue Tokai’s website and over 50 cafés across the country.

Commenting on the launch, Matt Chitharanjan, co-founder and chief executive officer, Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters said, “The thrill of doing something for the first time is very special and the ‘Debut Series’ is as exciting for us as it’s for these first-time specialty producers. We feel humbled to be able to give these producers a platform to showcase their efforts and start a new phase in the Indian specialty coffee industry. We look forward to welcoming more first-time specialty coffee producers and taking the ‘Debut Series’ to a wider set of customers, as we all celebrate Indian specialty coffee.”

The ‘Debut Series’ will launch with three light roast lots from Anai Kadu Estate, a quaint 50-acre plantation that borders the Devamachi Reserve Forest of Coorg. Each month, Blue Tokai will launch coffees from two new estates as part of this initiative, with the last lot scheduled for its debut in August 2022, before revealing the second edition during the next harvest.
