MULTIVAC is backing CO2-neutral exhibition stands for the future

Saving on greenhouse gases and protecting the environment

It's a further step towards sustainability: MULTIVAC presented not only machines and packs for sustainable food packaging at Anuga FoodTec 2022 in Cologne, but also a CO2-neutral exhibition stand for the first time.

Tons of heavy carpets, chipboard and plexiglass screens ending up in landfill after use at a trade fair? It's no longer an option for a company like MULTIVAC that thinks sustainably. “Working in conjunction with the company "Atelier Türke" in Balingen, we have used the period during the corona pandemic to develop a resource-saving concept for our exhibition stands,” says Christian Traumann, group president of MULTIVAC. Only carpets and cabin walls were used, which are 100% recyclable. In addition to this, the other materials are designed to last for many trade fairs: such as for example solid glass screens and a robust oak floor in the catering area. And when it comes to the catering itself, the company is also thinking about saving resources.

Climate protection project to offset the CO2 footprint of the exhibition stand

MULTIVAC has even had a great idea for the remaining CO2 emissions, which can not be avoided despite all the efforts towards sustainability. The company is offsetting the CO2 footprint of the exhibition stand by investing in a climate protection project, which is run by "ClimatePartner", the international specialist for climate protection. In order to support environmental protection in the company's own region, part of the money is also going to a local mountain forest project in the Upper Allgäu. Action to protect nature, in which visitors to the exhibition stand also gets the opportunity to participate. Using a chip card at a RFID station, they can plant a tree virtually. As Traumann says, “In this way we want to symbolically take our visitors with us on a common path to a green future, by adopting tree sponsorship to conserve the local mountain forest.”

“We are coming one step closer to the aim of a CO2-neutral company”

Packaging solutions from Wolfertschwenden can be found throughout the world. “Every day we reach 1.5 billion people worldwide with our products. That is 1.5 billion reasons to take responsibility for the environment,” says Traumann with conviction. For many years the company has developed and produced machines and solutions, which stand for sustainable handling of food - and not just packaging machines but also slicers and portioning machines, which process meat precisely to the gram and without waste. Also films and other packaging materials, which are fully recyclable and can be used in closed-loop systems. MULTIVAC itself is increasingly using green energy, which is generated from photovoltaic equipment as well as combined heat and power systems. “Sustainability is part of our company strategy. It was therefore only logical to design the exhibition stands as sustainably as possible. We are coming one step closer to the aim of a CO2-neutral company.”
