FoodTechBiz Desk

Hellmann’s is set to enhance its operational capabilities and meet the soaring demand for its popular squeeze bottle products with a significant investment of €14.7 million in its Pouso Alegre nutrition factory in Brazil.

This strategic investment will expand the squeeze bottle production capacity by double digits, addressing the impressive 30% year-on-year increase in demand for mayonnaise in this format, as reported by Nielsen’s Total Market Brazil FY 2023.

The Pouso Alegre facility, already recognized for its sustainable operational excellence, will further boost its output with this investment. The plant features a state-of-the-art biodigester, which has been providing 100% of the thermal renewable energy required since its installation last year.

Edmundo Mollo, factory director at Pouso Alegre, highlights the necessity of this expansion, “We are experiencing double-digit growth across our business in Brazil, particularly in our squeeze bottle lines. Each month, we are capturing more market share, necessitating an increase in our production capacity.”

The new factory line will not only scale up production to meet consumer demand but also incorporate the latest technological advancements to optimize performance and output. Mollo explains that this investment will enable the plant to implement cutting-edge equipment, enhance data collection, and leverage machine learning and AI for continuous improvement in efficiency.

Hellmann’s commitment to innovation and sustainability ensures that the Pouso Alegre plant remains a leader in operational excellence while meeting the growing consumer appetite for squeeze bottle sauces.
