NIFTEM-Kundli marks major milestones with strategic MoUs at World Food India 2024

FoodTechBiz Desk

At the third edition of World Food India 2024, NIFTEM-Kundli (National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management) reached a significant milestone in advancing India's food processing industry. By signing strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 11 renowned companies, including Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Nestlé R&D Centre, TCPL Pvt. Ltd., Tetra Pak Pvt. Ltd., Marico Ltd., LT Foods Limited, Hexagon Nutrition Limited, Fermenta Biotech Limited, Tirupati Life Sciences, Sahyadri Farms, and Nutrify Today, NIFTEM-Kundli is enhancing its industry connections to foster cutting-edge innovations.

In addition to these industry partnerships, NIFTEM-K also signed MoUs with three key development organizations—The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Technoserve, and the Indo-Maize & Millets Development Association-Pune—and forged partnerships with four leading academic and research institutions, including IISER Kolkata, MDU Rohtak, IIIT Sonipat, IIT Bombay, and the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA). These collaborations will drive interdisciplinary research and create Centres of Excellence to facilitate knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and the development of new product lines. A major focus will be the creation of sustainable, climate-resilient food systems and ensuring nutritional security for future generations.

Notably, NIFTEM-K's efforts to transfer five innovative technologies to food companies and startups will empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs, fostering entrepreneurship within the food processing space. Additionally, the launch of a pesticide detection kit for tea leaves is a groundbreaking initiative, ensuring consumers have access to safer and more hygienic food products.

The partnerships will also emphasize student placements, training, and incubation programs, offering students hands-on experience with industry leaders and providing a platform for developing the next generation of food technologists and entrepreneurs.

This landmark event reinforces NIFTEM-Kundli’s commitment to promoting food innovation, safety, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, while aligning with the Government of India's larger mission to make India a global food processing hub. The collaborations will significantly contribute to self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat), promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports in the food sector.

World Food India 2024 not only highlighted NIFTEM-Kundli's pivotal role in the food processing industry but also demonstrated the institution’s leadership in shaping future food systems through innovation and collaborative partnerships.
