Serac, a global leader in packaging technology, proudly participated in ProPak India 2024, held from 25 to 27 September at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru. The company’s presence at this event highlighted its commitment to driving innovation and providing advanced packaging solutions to the Indian market.

With over five decades of expertise, Serac has long been a pioneer in advanced packaging solutions, specializing in blowing, filling, and capping technology for various industries, including dairy, food, edible oils, and lubricants. The company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and customer-centric solutions has established it as a trusted name globally. This year, Serac had a remarkable presence at ProPak India, showcasing its latest technological innovations and strengthening connections with industry partners and customers.

Serac unveils portable test bench at ProPak India

At ProPak India, Serac featured an open 36 sqm booth that was accessible from three sides, allowing easy access for visitors. The team was led by Mr. Deepak Kamat, Managing Director of Serac India, along with key members, including Mr. Vishalchandra Shah (Customer Service Manager), Mr. Sherwin Samuel (Area Sales Manager), Mr. Vinod Nair (AFS Admin & Marketing Executive), Mr. David Samuel (Technical Support & Pre-Sales Engineer), and Mr. Arjun PV (Field Service Engineer). The event was also graced by the presence of Serac's Chairman of the Board, Madam Rose Graffin, and Mr. Paul Heskens, Managing Director APAC.

For the first time, Serac showcased its portable test bench at ProPak India, demonstrating the filling processes that would be performed on their actual machines. This interactive demonstration received significant attention, as it provided visitors with a glimpse into Serac’s advanced capabilities in product filling. Additionally, Serac plans to demonstrate filling tests with real products—such as dairy, sauces, and other food products—at future exhibitions to showcase the precision and reliability of its filling technology.

Deepak Kamat, Managing Director of Serac India, spoke enthusiastically about the company’s successful participation at ProPak India, emphasizing the positive response received from attendees. He said, "We had a successful show at ProPak India. We showcased our aseptic decontamination model, known as BluStream, which is currently our focus for sensitive products, particularly in the food industry. We experienced good footfall, allowing us to display our innovations and discuss how our solutions can be retrofitted to existing equipment, which is a key unique selling point (USP) for us today. We were able to engage directly with our customers, demonstrating how we can add value to their operations. We also had visitors interested in our standardized products, especially those looking to grow, and we are eager to support their future expansion.”

Serac’s BluStream decontamination

Mr. Kamat elaborated further on Serac's BluStream decontamination model, highlighting its significant advancements in aseptic decontamination. BluStream technology represents a major breakthrough by using Electron Beam (EB) technology instead of traditional chemical methods, such as hydrogen peroxide or peracetic acid. This approach eliminates the need for chemicals, significantly reducing both capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) costs. With a compact footprint of approximately 1.5 to 2 meters, the technology has already achieved impressive results, including a log-six reduction for cap decontamination. The next step for Serac is to scale up this innovation to full bottle decontamination.

“Our cap decontamination technology is gaining significant interest, including from major customers like Amul,” said Mr. Kamat. “Once we launch the bottle module, we plan to scale up significantly. Currently, we are focusing on cap decontamination, but expanding to bottle decontamination is the next step in our plan.”

Building stronger relationships with customers and partners

ProPak India provided a great platform for Serac to engage with existing customers and potential clients interested in their blowing, filling, and capping machines for dairy, edible oil, and lubricant industries. The event facilitated numerous productive conversations, enabling the Serac team to demonstrate their ability to add value through innovative solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into existing equipment.

Reflecting on the show, Madam Rose Graffin expressed her excitement, stating, "Honored to be here in India with our local Serac team as we open this exciting ProPak India show! This event marks a key opportunity to strengthen our relationships with clients and partners in the region.”

She further added, "The energy and innovation we've witnessed since the start of the show have truly been a testament to the dynamism and potential of the Indian market. We are thrilled by the warm welcome and the incredible interest shown by visitors, customers, and partners alike. A huge thank you to everyone who has stopped by our booth—your insights and enthusiasm have made this event a great success so far!"

Looking forward to future participation

Mr Kamat mentioned Serac’s interest in participating in ProPak India again next year to engage with new regional markets. He also emphasized the desire for an expanded ProPak India, stating, "Expanding the scale of ProPak could lead to more participants and better footfall. I hope that next year it will be even larger in scale," he concluded.

As Serac wraps up its successful participation at ProPak India, the company remains focused on expanding its footprint and supporting customers across various industries. The team is already looking forward to engaging in future events, where they will continue showcasing their technologies and working closely with partners to drive innovation in the packaging sector.
