Kanchan Metals - Single window solution provider for food processing industry

From humble beginnings in the late ’90s, Kanchan Metals has entered the food processing machinery space as a sourcing agent for India’s food processors. It partners with renowned international food processing equipment manufacturers and provides the market with quality equipment and after-sales service of the highest standard.

Talking about the company, Raghav Gupta, director, Kanchan Metals, says, “We have been in the food machinery business since 1995 and represent several equipment manufacturers as their distributors handling sales and services for the Indian market in the areas of snack food, bakery, confectionery, frozen and instant food, meat, hygiene and packaging machinery. Other than trading, we also manufacture food machinery mainly for the snack industry at our plant in Greater Noida. We have an extensive product portfolio and export machinery to many parts of the world.”

The machines manufactured at Kanchan Metals, catering to the Indian indigenous fast-food category, include a complete random style extruded snack production line, automatic bhujiya/sev production line, and automatic ethnic mixture blending line. They also offer conveying solutions, forced air coolers, bucket elevators, seasoning drum and namkeen extruders with capacities ranging from 500 kg/hr to 3000kg/hr.

R&D and innovation

To continuously evolve and stay ahead of the competition, R&D is an important aspect in every company. Elaborating on the focus on the same, he says, “We lay a lot of emphasis on R&D, and for us, it all starts with the product. We have a team of food technologists and application engineers who are constantly creating recipes for snacks, bakery and confectionery products that are machinable. Once we feel we are at an acceptable level we share ideas and concepts with our clients. It helps us add value to the whole process.”

Sharing about the business, he says, “We haven’t witnessed a slowdown, but there are always cycles with high and low points. The 1st quarter was dull at the moment, but we expect things to pick up as there are several discussions and pending projects in the pipeline.”

Talking about what the company plans to exhibit at the upcoming ANUTEC event, he tells us, "We will be displaying several new technologies and machinery in the field of snack food, bakery, and confectionery."

Elaborating on his expectations from ANUTEC and how such events help the company achieve its business goals, he says, "It helps us meet new clients and connect with existing ones too. We get to see the other players in the industry and try to learn from each other on the latest trends and areas of focus moving forward."

New snack ideas & capacity expansion

He shares the company's plans and vision, "We intend to grow our machinery manufacturing business two-fold. We are currently planning to expand this capability, and a new plant is under design and will enter the construction phase soon."

According to Gupta, the company is also working on creating new snacking ideas for its clients and will continue to develop bespoke machinery for the same. "The vision is to help increase India's food processing industry by making technology more affordable," he concludes.
