During the 35th edition of the World Championship Cheese Contest in Wisconsin, United States, FrieslandCampina's cheeses were awarded a total of 12 medals: 3 gold, 8 silver, and 1 bronze medal. The 3 gold medals were awarded to Lutjewinkel 1916 Tasty & Light, Parrano Robusto, and Gayo Azul Mature Edam.

The World Championship Cheese Contest is the world’s premier technical cheese, butter, and yogurt competition. The contest has been held biennially by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association since 1957.

All entries were evaluated by a team of skilled technical judges from all over the world. They assessed the entries based on taste, body and texture, salt, color, finish, packaging, and other relevant characteristics. A gold medal, a silver medal and bronze medals were awarded to the three highest-scoring entries in each class. FrieslandCampina is proud to have had 12 winners in this edition!

The gold medals were for:

  • Lutjewinkel 1916 Tasty & Light

  • Parrano Robusto

  • Gayo Azul Mature Edam

The silver medals were awarded to:

  • Noord-Hollandse Gouda jong gerijpt

  • Lutjewinkel 1916 Spicy & Creamy

  • De Rotterdamsche Oude 55 weken oud

  • Lutjewinkel 1916 Robust & Creamy

  • Noord-Hollandse Lutjewinkel 35+ gerijpt

  • Royal Hollandia Milde Geitenkaas

  • Gaya Azul Edam

And the bronze medal was awarded to:

  • Noord-Hollandse Lutjewinkel 35+ extra gerijpt
