Toppan, a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, has acquired the InterFlex Group (InterFlex), a global flexible packaging converter with bases in the United States and the United Kingdom on 23 July 2021. Interflex offers printed shrink films, stand-up pouches, pre-formed bags, wax-coated papers, surface print and laminate roll stocks, and barrier and non-barrier film laminations to numerous consumer goods markets from their five production facilities in the US and UK. With the acquisition of InterFlex, Toppan will establish a flexible packaging production network in the North American and European markets and drive the growth of sustainable packaging products and integrated solutions in the regions.

“In May this year, Toppan announced its Medium Term Plan to March 2023, the fundamental concept of which is ‘Digital & Sustainable Transformation.’ One of the priorities we have set out is accelerating global expansion in the packaging business by catering to demand sustainable solutions and establishing a local production for local consumption model,” said Hideharu Maro, Toppan’s president & representative director. “In 2016, we opened Toppan USA’s Georgia Plant to manufacture and sell GL BARRIER, our proprietary transparent vapor-deposited barrier film, and we are strengthening our sales network in Japan, Europe, and North, Central, and South America. Welcoming InterFlex into the Toppan Group is a significant step for advancing our packaging business worldwide, and we intend to continue investing proactively in our focus on sustainable packaging products and integrated solutions for the global market.”
