As in many sectors, the sweet, biscuit, and chocolate industry faces a challenging market that demands increasingly sustainable packaging and safer products.
Plastic-free primary packaging
For several years, ULMA Packaging has been developing sustainable packaging solutions for its #ULMAweCare project. With #ULMAweCare, the company aims to continue transitioning from the linear economy to the circular economy, mitigating the overall impact of plastic packaging while maintaining preservation properties and avoiding food waste.
In line with its strategy, at Prosweets ULMA Packaging will be displaying paper primary packaging as an alternative to traditional plastic packaging.
Double label system as an alternative to secondary packaging
The packaging line includes equipment that bundles together primary packaging using a double-label system, thus avoiding the usual secondary packaging.
This system, which uses paper labels, provides solutions with highly appealing characteristics in terms of sustainability. The primary packaging and the labels affixed to bundle packs together are made of paper so that the waste can be recycled in a conventional paper recycling circuit.
