Sunpure, South India’s largest edible oil brand, announced the launch of a new product category – Blended Spices. Starting with Sunpure Sambar Powder, Sunpure Rasam Powder and Sunpure Puliyogare Powder, the latest product category is expected to clock INR 10-12 crores in revenues in FY 2024-’25.

Earlier this year, MK Agrotech, Sunpure’s Karnataka-based parent organization, forayed into the INR 25,000-crore branded spices market with the launch of Sunpure Red Chilli Powder, Sunpure Turmeric Powder and Sunpure Coriander Powder. The company plans to further expand its product portfolio to include grains, pulses, dry fruit, and other food products in the near future.

Building on the brand’s legacy of bringing together the best of technology and tradition, Sunpure’s vision is to become a Pan-India FMCG brand that empowers consumers to embrace healthy living. All products under the newly-launched Blended Spices category share the brand USP of no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, and no added preservatives.

Commenting on the latest launch, Sridhar Vaidyanathan, Chief Operating Officer, MK Agrotech, said, “At Sunpure, the health and well-being of our consumers is at the heart of everything we do. The decision to launch the new category of Blended Spices was based on the strong consumer demand for trustworthy and healthy products that can do justice to the intricate blend of flavors and spices that are synonymous with Indian cuisine. Sunpure Sambar Powder, Sunpure Rasam Powder and Sunpure Puliyogare Powder are made from the best quality raw materials and processed in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities to ensure authentic taste, colour, and aroma. As an ISO 22000:2018 certified company, we have stringent quality checks in place to guarantee that all our products adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and safety. In the coming months, we will be launching more products in this category and beyond.”

Some of the main features of Sunpure’s blended spices are that the Puliyogare, Rasam, and Sambar Powders feature all-natural ingredients with no additives, artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors. Each product sources raw materials from their origins to ensure freshness and authentic aroma. Puliyogare Powder includes tamarind from Tumkur, ground nuts from Chitradurga, dried coconut from Thiptur, and jaggery from Mandya. Rasam Powder uses chillies from Byadagi and Guntur, cumin and coriander seeds from Gujarat, and Irani hing. Sambar Powder also sources chillies from Byadagi and Guntur, with cumin and coriander seeds from Gujarat.

As part of the company’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Sunpure has been actively building a portfolio of Indian oils, namely, rice bran oil, filtered groundnut oil and refined groundnut oil, with a view to reduce the country’s dependence on imported edible oils. Sunpure also launched Mustard Oil that is cold pressed, chemical-free and processed in low temperatures to retain its natural nutritional and antioxidant properties.

2024 has been an eventful year for the company, with Sunpure acquiring Riso, a leading edible oil brand from Maharashtra, in a bid to further strengthen its presence in key markets. In FY 2024-25, the company registered 15% growth, while expanding its footprints across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa and Tamil Nadu.
