On the world earth day, Akshayakalpa Organic announced the launch of its recycling initiative #GiveBackTheMilkPack. According to the Minister of State for Environment, more than 34 lakh tons of plastic waste were generated in 2019-20. A significant contributor to this plastic waste is discarded milk packs that adversely affect our environment and our children’s future. Akshayakalpa does the waste collection and partners with recycling ventures to segregate different kinds of plastic waste to recycle them into granules, which are then used as secondary raw materials to make new products such as baskets and goods.
In addition to inviting its customers to join this movement, Akshayakalpa’s #GiveBackTheMilkPack program extends an invitation to schools and other dairy producers and suppliers to participate in this revolution. The organic dairy brand will be rolling out this initiative across three cities it currently serves, namely Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Chennai.
Speaking on occasion, Shashi Kumar, founder and chief executive officer of Akshayakalpa Organic, says, “At Akshayakalpa, our driving force is to unearth a healthy future for our customers and a prosperous future for our farmers by nurturing nature. From this premise, we strive to make a difference in every step that we take. The launch of this recycling initiative is yet another milestone in doing what is good for our environment, society, and our consumers. Milk is a product consumed in every household every day in India, but the disposal of these packets receives little to no attention and it adds to the extent of the problem we as a nation and the world are facing. This initiative is a small but crucial action towards bringing about awareness on the impact of plastic waste and invites our consumers to participate in our goal of making a difference in a way that matters.”
