Carlsberg Sweden works continuously to reduce the carbon footprint in all parts of the business. The next step is now being taken by electrifying the transport between the brewery in Falkenberg, and the external warehouse located at the E6, just under ten km from the brewery. The investment is an important part of Carlsberg Sweden's endeavor towards a fossil-free logistics chain and will provide an annual reduction of 80 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

"It is very satisfying that we at Carlsberg together with Einride can advance the positions for the electrification of heavy transports. Challenging ourselves to find new opportunities to change the business for the better is both inspiring and important," says Peter Hammarstedt, chief executive officer, Carlsberg Sweden.

Einride has provided a sustainable transportation solution that includes electric trucks, software, and charging infrastructure. As a result, Carlsberg Sweden will be able to reduce its annual carbon footprint by 93% compared with previous diesel transports on the route.

Facts

  • Charging the electric truck takes place during breaks during the day and for four hours at night.

  • This way, it can drive 20 h/day

  • It always runs fully loaded and has a capacity of 27 tons.
